Amari Cooper’s acquisition has brought a lot of changes in Dallas.
Dak Prescott, Cowboys quarterback, led a struggling passing attack early in the season which ranked near NFL’s bottom in the yards. Without Dez Bryant in the building, Allen Hurns, Cole Beasley and rookie Michael Gallup were being targeted by Prescott. Hurns has been little inconsistent, but Beasley has always been a reliable weapon. In fact Gallup is still in the learning phase and is making contributions on irregular basis.
Prescott only threw two touchdown passes and failed to top 200 passing yards. However, after the Cowboys traded for Cooper, there was a change in the situation. The former Raiders receiver immediately took Prescott’s comfort blanket.
During the game on Sunday, Prescott tried to target Cooper on several occasions, finding his new weapon for 200 yards and three touchdowns. That day Prescott totaled 455 yards leading to the Cowboys’ victory over the Eagles.
His efforts have helped him win the FedEx Player of the Week honors from the NFL. As per the official announcement, Prescott got 61% of the votes, Patrick Mahomes got 27% finishing second and Andrew Luck got 12% of the votes.
This was Prescott’s first award of the season in spite his sluggish start, he is certainly up for more. It is not easy to score against the Colts as they have a stingier secondary as compared to the other. But he is up against the Giants and the Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay is not good at defending, especially when it comes to the pass and has given around 268.5 yards to the opposing quarterbacks. Cooper and Prescott will probably have a field day in week 16. The Giants may have a strong defense as compared to the Buccaneers, but they can still be defeated.
