“That was honestly the worst time of my life. They were like, ‘Do you want to be in the series finale?’ And I was like, ‘Of course,’ thinking that I’d show up for like half a day. I was there for two weeks. And I’m barely in the show.”
Dakota Johnson Felt Leftout On The Sets Of “The Office”
As these were the final scenes for the actors of “The Office,” Dakota Johnson described the mood on set as “sad.” The actress discussed the strange dynamics that have been going on for nearly ten years, and she abruptly sank into the pit. Dakota said that she made attempts to blend in with the group, but her failure was attributed to the other cast members’ lack of excitement.
“They were sad. And also, like, there were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years.”
There were returning high-profile cast members such as Mindy Kaling, Steve Carell, and B.J. Novak, but none attempted to break the ice. Dakota even mentioned that the cast members weren’t even talking to each other when she arrived on set, excited to socialize.
“Some people didn’t speak to each other, and I’m coming in like, ‘Hahaha, I’m so excited to be here,’ and no one wanted to talk to me, nobody gave a f**k.”
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Dakota, in 2021, said that her brief appearance on ‘The Office’ was intended to set up a spin-off where she would star.
“If everything else just falls away, maybe you’ll find me in that ‘Office’ spinoff that no one wants to watch”
Dakota persevered to keep her status in Hollywood despite the challenging situations she faced as a rookie. Her role in Fifty Shades of Grey in 2015 made her a well-known face in the industry, and she has since established herself as a successful actress.
Dakota has acknowledged that her experience on the “The Office” set was merely a unique mix of dynamics that might or might not apply to other settings and that these are merely some of the fundamentals that many actors encounter on sets.
