Dakota Johnson stunned her followers by saying she can’t function on less than 10 hours of sleep and disclosed that she needs 14 hours of sleep per night to function. Everyone understands the importance of sleep, among its many advantages for your health, happiness, and cognitive function but the majority of us definitely don’t get enough of it.
Dakota, who revealed her astounding sleeping patterns this week, is one individual who is undoubtedly getting enough sleep and then some.
Dakota Johnson On How Important Sleep Is For Her
The 34-year-old “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress revealed in a Wall Street Journal interview that was published that she “can easily go 14 hours” asleep in a single night and that she’s “not functional” if she sleeps less than 10 hours.
“I don’t have a regular (wake-up) time,” she said. “It depends on what’s happening in my life. If I’m not working, if I have a day off on a Monday, then I will sleep as long as I can. Sleep is my number one priority in life.
Dakota Johnson revealed the startling revelation in a recent interview, when she also admitted that she is always prepared to take a stress-relieving bath at any time of the day.
She explained: “I will get in a bathtub at any moment, any time of the day. If in the middle of the day, I’m like, ‘Oh God, what is this world?’ I’ll get in the bathtub. I find water really grounding.”
Dakota Johnson not only spends half her day sleeping or taking baths, but she also finds time to work out five days a week, combining bodyweight training, hot yoga, and pilates.
She says she does meditation twice a day to maintain her mental health: “I practice transcendental meditation. Recently, I’ve become really interested in breathwork, and it’s been really helpful for my anxiety.”
Dakota Johnson has frequently been candid about her mental health, disclosing that she has battled depression since her adolescence.
In 2020, she stated to Marie Claire: “That’s when, with the experts’ assistance, I realised that this is something I could actually fall into. Nonetheless, because I can sense the world, I’ve come to find it wonderful. I suppose I’m complicated, but I don’t express them very well. It’s not someone else’s problem; it’s mine.”
Although Dakota Johnson seems to take holistic care of her body and mind, we still need to know the keys to getting 10 to 14 hours of sleep every night!
Experts On What Should Be The Average Sleep Time
Although the recommended amount of sleep varies from person to person, experts suggest that sleeping more than 14 hours a night is probably overkill.
The licensed clinical psychologist Shelby Harris, author of “The Women’s Guide to Overcoming Insomnia: Get a Good Night’s Sleep without Relying on Medication,” says, “There’s a range.” “The majority of people fall somewhere between seven to nine hours of sleep a night… but there are some people who are outliers, with some needing only six hours and others closer to 10.”
Seven hours of continuous sleep might be the sweet spot for middle-aged to older adults seeking the finest sleep possible, according to study. Adults should obtain at least seven hours of sleep per night, while teenagers should get eight to ten, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Sarah Silverman, a certified psychologist and behavioural sleep medicine specialist, explains that oversleeping may also be a warning sign of an underlying sleep issue, such as hypersomnia or sleep apnea.
