The Dallas Mavericks did wonders this offseason. Kyrie Irving was speculated to leave, but surprisingly, he will stay a Maverick for the time being. But after consolidating their position there, what else can the Mavericks do to improve their roster?
Signing Irving and pairing him with Luka Doncic is not going to solve each of their problems. They need a few wingers. The team is in dire need of a defensive anchor as well. Here are 3 trades we think that the Mavericks can do to strengthen their squad.
Rockets’ Jae’Sean Tate to the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks can offer Dwight Powell and Josh Green in exchange for Jae’Sean Tate. This seems very unlikely as the Rockets have moved past the rebuilding phase and would not like to give up on probably their best player. But they also have a lot of wingers, and Tate might not be able to get the game time. The Rockets might go ahead with trading him.

Hawks’ Clint Capela to the Dallas Mavericks
Tim Hardaway and a 2027 first-round pick can be offered in exchange for Clint Capela. The Mavericks need Capela and have made continuous efforts for him. They have two players for the role, but neither of them can be trusted as a starter. Capela’s addition to their roster would be a game-changing move.
REPORT: The Dallas Mavericks would like to make a run at Clint Capela, according to @TheSteinLine 🚨

Dallas Mavericks do a three-team trade involving Pascal Siakam
This trade does exactly what the above one did, lands Capela in Dallas, but in a different way. In this three-team deal, the Toronto Raptors would get DeAndre Hunter, Tim Hardaway, and Jalen Johnson, a lottery-protected 2024 first-round pick and a first-round pick each from 2027 and 2029. The Hawks would get their hands on Pascal Siakam, while the Mavericks would take Clint Capela home.
The Hawks would be happy to do this deal, and the Mavericks would not mind where their assets are headed. It would not be shocking if the Mavericks helped the Hawks in signing Pascal Siakam.
The Mavericks have a lot to think about. Some vital decisions are on the cards. What changes would they make to improve their squad? We’ll keep you updated.
