Brooklyn Nets have shown interest in Damian Lillard after Lillard requested a trade to Miami Heat. The Nets have a lot of assets, and also they flipped Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant last season to get some first-round picks and some talented players from other teams.
Brooklyn Nets’ Strategy: Trading Assets for a High-Scoring Player
The Brooklyn Nets don’t have their own future draft picks, which they owe to the Houston Rockets. And since the Nets don’t have their own draft picks, they do not have any reason to lose any game intentionally to get better draft picks.
Instead, the Nets are in a good position to use their assets to trade for a high-scoring player to be the main focus of their offense. One player they are eyeing is Damian Lillard from the Trail Blazers.
The Damian Lillard Trade Proposal
- The Portland Trail Blazers will receive Forward/Center Ben Simmons, a 2025 First-Round Draft Pick, a 2027 First Round Draft Pick, a 2029 First Round Draft Pick, and a 2030 First-Round Draft Pick
- In exchange, the Brooklyn Nets will receive the guard Damian Lillard.
The Brooklyn Nets are a strong contender to be involved in the Damian trade. However, the Nets would act as a third party as they would trade their Ben Simmons and some draft picks to the Trail Blazers. In return, they will receive the young player Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat.
Further, the Miami Heat will receive Damian Lillard in exchange for Tyler Herro.
How Would Brooklyn Nets Benefit from the Lillard Trade Deal?
The Nets would be a great fit for Lillard. Last season, Mikal Bridge became a better scorer after joining the Brooklyn Nets. If Lillard joins the team, he could be the main offensive player they need.
The Nets already own many skilled shooters and talented defenders, and Lillard would be a cherry on top, making them a highly competitive team. However, it is yet to be seen whether or not the Trail Blazers would trade Lillard to the Nets.
