An Overview of Dance 100 on Netflix
Dance fans were blown away by the talent showcased in the Netflix dance reality series Dance 100. The show featured eight top street dancers and hip-hop choreographers battling to teach increasingly complex routines to a group of exceptional dancers. The dancers also acted as judges and eliminated the choreographers until only one remained. Who is Keenan Cooks?
Keenan Cooks is a Boston native, and a choreographer featured as one of the eight contestants on Dance 100. He battled a brain tumor at an early age, but that did not deter him from pursuing his passion for dance. Keenan joined the Nia Dance Troupe in Boston when he was just sixteen. He completed his high school education before attending Marymount Manhattan College, where he studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies.
Keenan Cooks moved to New York City in 2008 to pursue a career in professional dancing. His hard work paid off when he worked with famous musicians such as Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Hailee Steinfeld, Halsey, and Big Sean. Keenan also produced choreography for major commercial campaigns, including an ad for GAP, and worked on one episode of Blindspot.
According to Gossip Next Door, Keenan Cooks was 31 when he appeared on the Netflix show.
Keenan Cooks in Dance 100
Keenan Cooks was the runner-up in the Dance 100 Season 1 competition, making it to the finals with Brandi Chun. In the final, he had to provide two routines, one based on the 1970s and another with the theme of “a night under the stars.” He had been a fan favorite since the first episodes of the show.

Keenan Cooks is currently a choreographer for Bloc Talent Agency Inc, a position he has held since August 2017. He also works as a Dance Instructor for Broadway Dance Centre, where he particularly enjoys teaching Street Jazz. He delivers his unique routines at Peridance Centre and Steps on Broadway. He is an in-demand dance choreographer and has taught internationally in countries such as the UK, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Peru, South Africa, and many more.
