The Los Angeles Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell took it to the internet about whatever he has been feeling about things happening around him. As a guest speaker on The Pet Bev Podcast with Rone, Russell vented out all he had been keeping inside lately.
Here is all you need to know about what happened on and after the Pat Bev podcast!
What did D’Angelo Russell say on the Podcast?
Russell started by saying that he was not given the appreciation he deserved for the performance he did put up for the Lakers last season. When Patrick Beverley said that Russell’s deal was one of the best deals shooting-wise, Russell gave affirmation by saying “They ain’t talking about it”.
D’Angelo Russell contract details
Russell was signed by the Lakers last season at the time of trade deadline. He has signed a two-year extension with them which includes a player option for the 2024-25 season and is worth $36M.

D’Angelo Russell response to his valuation
Russell set a career high at shooting with 46.9 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from beyond the arc. The player backed himself with the stat and said that he is worth much more than what he is going to earn in the coming season. The star doesn’t like the disrespect he is getting even after performing that well.
The Lakers fans’ reaction to D’Angelo Russell’s statement
Fans did not hold their hatred back and responded with Russell’s stats for the game against the Nuggets. They argued that Russell failed to perform, and the Lakers lost against Denver.

Stephen A Smith on D’Angelo Russell comments
After saying that Russell shouldn’t have done it on the podcast, Stephen backed Russell and said that Russell is being undervalued and actually deserves $25M – $27M per year. He said that if it depends on the contract length, Russell should be given a 3-year-long contract worth $75M or $80M, but in the end, he also slammed Russell for his poor performance against the Nuggets.
Would the outrage affect Russell’s place in the starting squad? It does not look like that. The Lakers should care more about winning games. But whatever happens, we’ll keep you updated.
