Disney has kept adding to its stories, and it plans to do the same thing by making some of its most popular stories into live-action movies. One of these projects is a live-action version of Hercules, and Danny DeVito is expected to return as Phil. After making a movie and an animated show about the mythical character, the studio said it was going to make a live-action version.
Guy Ritchie will direct the live-action version, which will be made by the Russo brothers. And the Twins star, who provided the voice of Phil in the 1997 animated movie, would reportedly play the same part in the new Disney movie.
He is expected to be in the live-action Hercules movie.
In the 1997 movie Hercules, Danny DeVito did voice of Philoctetes, a satyr who trains Hercules, the son of Zeus. The movie shows what happens to Hercules after he is kicked off Mount Olympus and stuck on Earth, where Phil helps him keep his superhuman strength. But DeVito didn’t play Phil in the 1998 animated show. Instead, Robert Costanzo did the voice work.
Even though he didn’t play the same character in the animated series, the actor from Taxi is likely to be in the upcoming live-action version of the movie. DeVito has told the studio that he would like to play the same role again.
If they don’t put me in that, they don’t have a hair on their as*s, I am the live-action Hercules!
he said during an interview. Fans are also excited to see Deck the Halls star Danny DeVito back as Phil. In fact, many people have said that the live-action version won’t be worth watching if Danny DeVito doesn’t come back.
Disney hasn’t said yet if the actor from “The War of the Roses” will play the same part again. But it would make sense for him to play Phil in the live-action version since the animator used his facial expressions and actions to animate the character in the 1997 movie Hercules.
Eric Goldberg used recordings of Danny DeVito to make Phil.
Eric Goldberg has created a number of Disney characters and continues to do so. And on February 17, at the D23 Expo, the American animator talked about how he got the idea to draw Phil in the 1997 movie Hercules. He said that Danny DeVito’s mouth looked “really different” when he was recording.
Goldberg said that he looked at DeVito’s tapes to figure out how to make Phil’s mouth move. Since the Junior star not only voiced the character but also gave him his look in the movie, it would be interesting to see Danny DeVito play him in the live-action version.
There are also many ideas about who will be in the movie. In the upcoming Disney movie, Hercules, the son of Zeus, is likely to be played by Taron Egerton, and Hades is likely to be played by Henry Cavill. Many people also think that the Russo brothers may bring in some of the Avengers cast for the live-action version of Hercules.
Joe Russo and his brother Anthony Russo have said that the new Hercules movie will be a “modern take” on the first one. The Russo brothers also said that in the remake, they would try to “capture that sense of humor” of the first movie. Reports say that filming won’t start until 2024, so fans might have to wait a bit longer for official word from the studio.
On Disney+, you can stream the 1997 movie, Hercules.
