Daredevil Season 4 was officially cancelled in November 2018 and the fans were deeply disappointed. A lot of people called out to Netflix for cancelling the show just after three successful seasons.
Cast reactions to Daredevil Season 4 cancellation
Charlie Cox, who played the role of Matt Murdock told Entertainment Weekly that a lot of them had expected to keep going. They had a lot of stories to tell. “ Although I understand that Daredevil has been cancelled, but I’m very saddened,” he said.
“I understand this is the way business works. But, these characters mean something to the fans out there. It’s weird for me to think that I would not be playing Matt Murdock again. And that character has been an important part of me for more than four years.”
Vincent D’Onofrio, who played the role of Wilson Fisk said that he was surprised by the cancellation of Daredevil Season 4. He also said that he was surprised about the other shows like Jessica Jones and the Punisher being cancelled too. “It was a fun thing to do because of all the people around me. And now I feel weird, just like the other fans feel,” he said.
D’Onofrio also praised all the cast and crew of the movie including Jell Loeb, who used to run TV over there. He said that they were all good people. It is a big shocker and a shame.
Why was Daredevil Season 4 cancelled?
The show runner Erik Olson had already planned and pitched Daredevil season 4 to Netflix. He already had his fingers crossed and the blueprint of the show was ready.

But maybe, that just was not enough to save Daredevil Season 4. The official statement from Netflix hardly gave out any information. It praised the show and the show makers, alright. But it also said that Daredevil will live on for the future Marvel projects.
What is the future for Marvel shows and movies?
And all these future projects are all referring to Disney’s acquisition of Marvel shows. Disney+, Disney brand new online streaming platform is going to launch in 2019. It is going to feature 500 movies and 7000 television episodes.
And the decision to push Marvel out was actually from Netflix rather than Disney. Netflix would obviously not given something up if it came to the viewing numbers.
Despite the improvement in quality, Daredevil had a massive decrease in its popularity and had very low viewership. Also, the relationship between Netflix and Marvel had turned stenous. A report from Deadline says that Marvel TV and Netflix were having problems over season orders and also the number of episodes.
And you might have noticed that Netflix is coming up with more and more original content. Sex Education and Russian Doll are great examples of this and Daredevil season 4 just didn’t fit the framework.
