Dave Bautista has said that he had to cover up a tattoo of Manny Pacquiao after the boxer made comments about gay people.
Dave Bautista is getting a lot of attention for his role in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. This is because he recently said he wants to play more serious roles.
In an interview, the actor also said that he was leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he plays Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy series.
The 53-year-old actor said he has “a lot of love” for Drax, but he wants to move on to more serious roles and not be remembered as the comic relief in the Marvel universe.
Before he became a movie star, Dave Bautista was a big name in WWE. He fought alongside some of the most famous fighters in the world.
He was on the same “team” as professional boxer Manny Pacquiao, and he even got a tattoo of the team’s logo, according to a source.
But Dave Bautista stopped working with Pacquiao after he said gay people are “worse than animals” on Filipino TV station TV5 in 2016.
The animals are better. They know how to distinguish male from female,
Pacquiao said to the station via PEOPLE.
If we approve [of] male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animals.
Bautista has always been a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community. To show that the boxer’s comments did not reflect him, he covered the tattoo with roder.
I was part of a team of a person I considered a friend and someone I really looked up to. And then, he later came out publicly with some anti-gay statements and turned out to be an extreme homophobe,
Dave Bautista said.
I had a huge issue with it. It’s a personal issue with me, my mom’s a lesbian. I just could no longer call him a friend. So, I had it covered up with this,
he continued while showing the new tattoo of a woman with a skull on her face.
Bautista has also shown his support for the LGBTQIA+ community by posting a picture of himself wearing a t-shirt with a rainbow design that says: “Be You.”
On and off the screen, Bautista is quickly becoming one of our favorite actors.
