David Boreanaz is a well-known American actor, TV producer, and director who is recognized for his portrayals of Angel, a vampire who becomes a private investigator, on both the popular supernatural series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) and its spinoff Angel (1999-2004) on The WB/UPN.
Early Life & Education
David Paul Boreanaz was born in Buffalo, New York, while his father, Dave Roberts (also known as David Thomas Boreanaz), was employed as a meteorologist and the host of the children’s program Rocketship 7 at ABC affiliate WKBW-TV.
His mother, Patti Boreanaz, worked as a travel agent. He has two older siblings, Bo and Beth. His father’s heritage is a mix of Italian and Slovene, as evident in their family name Boreanaz. On his mother’s side, she is half Slovak and has other ancestry including Irish, German, French, and Swiss.
At the age of seven, David Boreanaz‘s family relocated to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania region when his father secured a position at the nearby ABC station, WPVI-TV. He grew up in a Catholic household and received his education at the Rosemont School of the Holy Child in Rosemont, Pennsylvania.
Afterward, he attended Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, where he was passionate about sports and participated in the school’s football team. He earned a degree in cinema and photography from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York in 1991.

After moving to Los Angeles, David Boreanaz had trouble finding work. Like many struggling actors, he slept on his sister’s couch and worked as a production assistant to learn more about the industry. He got small roles in movies like “Aspen Extreme” and “Best of the Best II.”
In the early 1990s, David’s professional on-camera journey took off when he landed his first paid acting job as a minor character on “Married… with Children.”
He portrayed Kelly’s cheating biker boyfriend who is punched by her father, Al Bundy. Four years later, he achieved widespread recognition with his role as Angel in the popular series, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
In his role as Angel, David Boreanaz played a vampire cursed by the Romani people. The show became very successful and ran from 1997 to 2004. He also had a recurring role on “Buffy” after leaving the show. During this time, he appeared in the film “Macabre Pair of Shorts,” where he plays a vampire’s victim.

He became a member of the cast of CBS’s “United States Navy SEALs” in March 2017. The series was later changed to “SEAL Team” and debuted on September 27, 2017.
He has since directed three episodes and served as a producer and executive producer. In May 2021, the show was confirmed for a fifth season and it was revealed that it will be transitioning to Paramount+.

From 1997 to 1999, David Boreanaz was in a marriage with Ingrid Quinn. In November 2001, he tied the knot with Jaime Bergman, who was a “Playboy” model. Together, they have a son named Jaden Rayne (born in 2002) and a daughter named Bardot Vita (born in 2009).
However, they later changed their daughter’s name to Bella. In 2010, David publicly confessed to having an extramarital affair with Rachel Uchitel, the same woman who was rumored to have been unfaithful to her husband, Tiger Woods. This affair took place while David’s wife was pregnant.
