The Buzzing Rumor Mill: Who’s Joining Deadpool and Wolverine?
Let’s face it, folks: when it comes to Deadpool 3, everyone’s aflutter about the wild casting rumors circulating online. The internet has been flooded with speculations, as fans eagerly hope to see Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool team up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. But wait, there’s more. Will Jennifer Garner reprise her role as Elektra? Could we see Liev Schreiber claw his way back as Sabretooth? Is Ben Affleck donning his Daredevil costume once again? Oh, and let’s not forget Halle Berry’s Storm or a possible cameo by pop sensation Taylor Swift!
Director Shawn Levy, during his time on SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle Show, remained coy about these swirling rumors.
“I love the proliferation of casting rumors on the internet, because I never have to say what’s real and what’s fantasy, so I’m just going to go with the very cliche ‘no comment’ on all things casting [with] Deadpool 3,” Levy said. “I will say, we’re lucky on this one. There’s certainly — is this an answer? A lot of the internet rumors are completely false, but some of them aren’t.”
Star-Packed Cast: Who’s Locked and Loaded?
While the rumor mill grinds on, the film’s official roster doesn’t disappoint. Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the movie brings back Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić. But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Matthew Macfadyen of ‘Succession’ fame and Emma Corrin from ‘The Crown’ will be making their Marvel debuts. While Macfadyen’s role remains a mystery, Corrin is set to bring some villainous energy into the mix.
Production Woes: Can Deadpool 3 Survive the Actors’ Strike?
Deadpool 3’s journey to the big screen is far from smooth. Initially slated for a May 3, 2024, release, the film now faces an uncertain future.
“I wish I knew. I don’t even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3. Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We’ve shot half the movie. I’ve edited half the movie. We’re dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year,” Levy confessed.
With half of the movie already in the can, the production team is at the edge of their seats, eager to continue shooting. However, the looming actors’ strike has cast a dark cloud over Hollywood, causing delays for many projects, not just Deadpool 3.
The Hollywood Crisis: When Will the Cameras Roll Again?
While the writers’ strike saw a resolution, the actors’ negotiations have hit a dead end, pun intended. The deadlock has put several high-profile projects at a standstill, leaving major studios and streaming services scrambling for a way forward. Shawn Levy‘s uncertainty about Deadpool 3’s release echoes the larger unrest in Hollywood, making the film’s future all the more precarious.
So there you have it, movie buffs: Deadpool 3 is caught in a whirlwind of rumors, casting reveals, and industry turmoil. Whether or not the Merc with a Mouth will break the fourth wall in theaters next year is anyone’s guess. But one thing is sure: it’s going to be one heck of a ride getting there.
