Why would the Pelicans like to sign Dejounte Murray?
The Pelicans have got Jonas Valanciunas on their roster, and they would be covering up for his shortcomings by signing Murray. He would be a great addition in the Pelicans squad since they need somebody to be the defensive piece while Jonas and Zion Williamson take charge of the offense.

Why would the Hawks trade-off Dejounte Murray?
The Hawks are doing this deal for the draft picks here. Although they will have to suffer with McCollum’s heavy contract, three draft picks attached to him would make them do this trade. The Hawks can use McCollum or trade him further along with the draft picks to make a star signing.
