Jennifer Lopez is a triple threat. She’s an actress, a singer, and a dancer. Moreover, she has shown her excellence in all domains. However, one element that drives people crazy is how young she looks even at 53. Most people lose their bright tight skin and get wrinklier. But that is not the case with JLo. One thing that comes with the artist is that she is exceptionally active and conscious about herself. This is something that is also acknowledged by a dermatologist. Dr. Dray indulges in JLo’s complicated skin routine and workout schedule.
Dr. Dray explains that JLo “never had any botox, fillers or any cosmetic procedure.” She explains, “There are many other factors that go into skin aging. I think people are under the impression that getting botox, fillers, and having cosmetic procedures is really why these people look so good. And it’s more than that.” Dray uses more of her expertise to explain how humans experience so many factors that wrinkle their skin.
Jennifer Lopez and her incredible skincare
Dr. Dray says, “The main factor is UV rays from the sun, and J-Lo is pretty vocal about the fact that since the age of 22, she has been really diligent with sunscreen.” But this is not the only reason why JLo is still rocking her age-defying looks. Dray credits it to her immaculate diet. She says, “But if we found out what her diet is I don’t think people should follow it to a T. Everyone’s nutritional needs are unique to them and it’s not necessarily helpful to follow a celebrities diet, because they are going to have different nutritional needs.”
She continues, “However, we know things that are good for the health of our skin include healthy fats, getting enough protein, vitamins and minerals, and vitamin C for building good healthy collagen. If you have a balanced diet you are going to get the nutritive requirements but if you survive on sugary processed foods that is not going to set you up for healthy skin. No amount of botox or fillers is going to change that.”
What helps JLo get age-defying skin?
More than that, JLo is pretty active. Dray says, “Another reason that she looks so good I am willing to put money on is that she is very active. She exercises. She has said this in interviews. Have you ever been to one of her concerts? She dances a lot.” The singer has also talked about her workout routines. Jennifer Lopez says, “Sometimes, I work too late the night before, and I’m like: ‘Ugh, I can’t do this.’ But I tell myself: ‘Just do it. It’s only an hour.’ It’s just talking yourself off the ledge of being a lazy bum. I don’t like [working out] later; it’s harder to get there when I have my day going already. She works out thrice or four times a week without fail.
However, it is now always the outside factors to result in better skin. Sometimes, it’s just genetics. That is something that we cannot control or have a major effect on. Dray says, “Genetics definitely play a role in how quickly your skin and total body will age. Things in our environment that contribute to ageing of the skin do so largely by generating free radicals that damage proteins and lipids in our skin and the DNA in our skin cells. We have different enzymes in our skin that help combat those free radicals. Some people’s genes make it so that their enzymes are better perhaps.”
