Sutherland said,
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play President Kirkman for season three of Designated Survivor with Netflix, eOne and Neal Baer.
The creators will now delve deeper into the storylines and the American electorate issues which were previously not possible. The show will be out on Netflix this year itself. The fans can also binge watch the first two seasons on the streaming service.
The first two seasons had twenty episodes, but Designated Survivor Season 3 will have only ten episodes. The filming was completed back in February itself. Kal Penn (Seth Wright) had posted about the last production day, giving hints that the series will air soon.
Neal Baer has directed the third season. The official trailer came out recently and you can clearly notice that Kirkman’s election campaign is different from the usual one. The president may fight dirty to lead the country.
Kirkman will be seen speculating his re-election campaign. Has he made the right choice or not? Maggie Q will be offered a new gig which will have huge stakes. The show will focus on campaigning, finance, debates, smear tactics and fake news.
Other cast members who will return include Q, Penn, Italia Ricci and Adan Canto. Some new additions will also be there such as Elena Tovar and Anthony Edwards.
