Do dogs fall in love? Well! The answer to this is a big YES!
Something really close to the fact mentioned above with a kind dog named Hiro has happened.
California based Professor Paul Zak, proved that the hormone oxytocin in animals acts as a bonding agent in relationships. Perhaps, animals are capable of falling in love as humans do.
Hiro and his owner Viviana Davila were relaxing in their backyard in Puerto Rico. Suddenly something near the fence caught the attention of the dog. Hiro slowly got up and went to have a closer look at it.
Surprise guest visit for Hiro
Davila explained noticing Hiro’s behavior
“I noticed Hiro licking something on the grass. Hiro licked this thing and looked at me, and insisted again by licking it and looking at me. That gave me the signal that there was something going on and I approached Hiro.”
Davila suddenly noticed a little baby bird that was struggling for help.
“I instantly looked for a towel and picked her up,” Davila said.
“She was very defenseless and helpless.” – If Hiro wouldn’t have been there the bird couldn’t have survived.
Soon after consulting the Vet, Davila found out that a baby Quaker parrot was paraplegic. It was likely due to having fallen from her nest.
As a result, she was quite clear that her chances of survival in the wild were very less.
Soon the baby parrot proved Davila wrong as she was a fighter so she named her ‘Hope’
“The vet told us that on similar cases he recommends clients to put them to sleep,” she said. “However, he was surprised to see how Hope was striving to live.”
Davila decided to add her to her family so she took proper care and did regular feedings. She provided her with maximum comfort that she could. Davilla says –
“It has been a week and a half and she is doing far better. Hiro has been part of that effort. Since day one he has not left her side.”
Hope got stronger day by day and settled well into her new home. Hiro also took proper care to ensure her heart heals as well. She added –
“Nothing matters anymore for him because he has a new purpose – taking care of Hope.”
Nowadays they both can not be separated from each other. Wherever Hiro goes Hope is also there. This way a beautiful seed of friendship blossomed between the two.
“Having Hope and taking care of her so far has been a really great experience. She teaches us each day about perseverance, and Hiro about empathy and being a kind living creature and friend.”
In the future also we hope to get updates about this beautiful bonding of Hope and Hiro. Davilla shared her true feelings, says –
“We feel honored to have Hiro. Although he has always been a really good boy, we are super proud of his development and feel happy to have embraced his honorable soul.”
Dogs have always proven to be man’s best friend and a companion. No matter what the situation dogs can risk their lives for their owners.
