A faithful dog survived through the Northern California catastrophic wildfire and all this while he was protecting the ruins of his home, waiting for his owner to return.
Andre Gaylord returned to the ruins to find Madison, the little dog, waiting for her when she got the permission to check on her property located in Paradise. Gaylord have left the home on 8 November when the wildfire spread to the town of 27,000 people. Gaylord has requested an animal rescuer to check on her dog. She got a response from the animal checker that Madison was spotted several days later.
Shayla Sullivan said that the dog was very apprehensive and wouldn’t come close. So Sullivan took care that the dog didn’t starve and left water and food for him every day till the time his owner got back. Sullivan said,
If [the evacuees] can’t be there, I’m going to be and I’m not going to give up on their animal until they can get back in.
She just can’t leave the animals to fend for themselves and said that she would be there to take care of them. She even helped to locate Miguel, Madison’s brother. They both are Anatolian shepherd mix. He was taken to a shelter home that was 85 miles away amidst the confusion and wildfire aftermath.
The dogs only reunited after Gaylord returned to the property and two dogs got their favorite treat of Wheat Thin crackers. Gaylord was really happy to see the little Madison guarding her home. she couldn’t have asked for a better pet.
Gaylord added,
Imagine the loyalty of hanging in the worst of circumstances and being here waiting. Their instinctual job is to watch the flocks and we’re part of them. It’s a comforting feeling.
