A female DoorDash driver known as Tia Zakher recently took to her TikTok account to share her late-night delivery experience. There have been several incidents in the past where food delivery persons have been subjected to violence while doing their job. Women delivery drivers have specifically faced sexual assault and kidnapping incidents. Let’s see how Tia disguises herself as a man for safety against harassers.
Female DoorDash Driver Demonstrates ‘Male Privilege’ Disguise
A TikToker, Tia Zakher shared a video on her account where she demonstrated how she dresses herself to look like a man while making late-night deliveries. Food delivery partners such as DoorDash and UberEats offer higher wages for drivers who make deliveries later in the night. Late-night deliveries also provide the drivers with the opportunity to earn larger tips than usual. This is probably the main reason why many young drivers who are struggling to make ends meet choose to make late-night deliveries.
In the video captioned ‘Male Privilege’, Tia- a DoorDash driver, is shown wearing the outfit that she wears while making deliveries at night to avoid the risk of getting assaulted or kidnapped by attackers. She can be seen wearing an oversized jacket, a pair of khaki pants, white sneakers, a hoodie, and a baseball cap to make herself look more like a man. Tia also adds a surgical mask to the outfit to cover her face.
She received some additional tips and a nod of approval from her fellow TikTokers.

Other Instances With Female DoorDash Drivers
There have been other incidents where female delivery partners have shared their horrific experiences while doing their job. In 2021, another female DoorDash driver shared her experience over Reddit with the title “Women Who DoorDash Beware”
Tonight I (21f) was door-dashing and long story short, this man came out of no where an demanded my phone and belongings. I ran like hell to my car…He was aggressive and chased me to my car when I ran away from him. PLEASE be careful everyone. Also, fyi it was in a good neighborhood, also in a place where I have door-dashed frequently and in an area where I have grown up at…This has never happened to me before and i really just want to say to everyone to keep your guard up when dashing. Stay safe everyone.
In April 2023, another female DoorDash driver was attacked and kidnapped in Tampa, Florida. CNN reported that 38-year-old Joseph Killins approached the female delivery partner while he was armed. Killins forced the female into her car and made her drive to an unknown location at gunpoint. She was then sexually assaulted by Killins somewhere 6 miles away from where he targeted her. The victim had her AirPods in her ears and was speaking to her girlfriend when the assault took place. Her girlfriend suspected something was wrong and alerted the police about the same. Her family was tracking the victim’s phone which led them to the victim’s location.
