Dragon Ball Daima was announced by the Dragon Ball panel at the New York Comic-Con this Thursday, October 12! Fans are speculating what it could mean for the Dragon Ball series.
Is Dragon Ball Daima the Sequel to Dragon Ball Super?
Sorry to disappoint the fans who were eagerly awaiting a sequel to Dragon Ball Super. The freshly announced Dragon Ball Daima is NOT the sequel they were hoping for.
Dragon Ball Super concluded with the Tournament of Power Saga in 2018. This has left fans in wait for a sequel for long. Expectations were high when the Dragon Ball panel was announced at New York Comic-Con, but it ended up being a different announcement.
What Is Dragon Ball Daima?
Dragon Ball Daima is not the sequel to Dragon Ball Super. Instead, it is an original story created to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
In the Dragon Ball Super manga, the next saga after the Tournament of Power is the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, which has Moro, the Consumer of Worlds. So, a Dragon Ball Super sequel should logically adapt this story arc.

Dragon Ball Daima: What to Expect?
While Dragon Ball Daima may be canon, it does not seem to be a direct sequel to the anime. The teaser suggests it might be set near the end of the Dragon Ball Z timeline. It hints at Gohan and Videl being together, possibly following the events of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie.
The teaser also features Babidi from the Majin Buu Saga which also induces speculation about its connection to that storyline. The new villain seems to be observing Goku’s fight against Majin Buu with great interest.
All in all, Dragon Ball Daima might not be the sequel fans were hoping for, but it may fit into the Dragon Ball Super manga’s story even though it does not continue the anime’s narrative. The exact timeline of the new series remains unknown to us till now. So stay tuned with us to stay updated about your favourite anime.
