At the beginning of the trailer, Ed Sheeran shows pictures from his childhood and says:
Ginger hair, really short, He stutters. That guy doesn’t grow up to be a pop star. It’s so unlikely.
The “Perfect” singer’s videos from when he was a teenager are mixed with videos from his sold-out arena tours to show how he became one of the biggest names in music.
Sheeran’s wife, who is 30 years old and is the mother of his two-year-old daughter Lyra Antarctica and 10-month-old son Jupiter, is also shown in the docuseries as the musician thinks about his relationship.
The two are seen going out on dates, and Sheeran says:
Everything in my life got so much better when Cherry came into it. I got married, I became a dad who has two daughters.
In the trailer, he also talks about his friend Jamal Edwards, who helped him get his first big break in the music business.
As was already known, the 31-year-old YouTube star and music producer died tragically in February 2022 due to a heart attack caused by cocaine and alcohol.
The series also talks about Cherry’s health problems and how they affected the couple. The singer of “Photograph” is seen crying as the death of his friend and his wife’s health scare become too much for him to handle.
A clip of him crying on stage is also shown, and Cherry says,
I’ve never seen him cry on stage,
He hasn’t had the time to process and be at peace with his thoughts.
The trailer ends with more happy videos of Sheeran celebrating his birthday, singing on stage, and laughing with his friends as he says, “life can be unpredictable.”
The “Castle on the Hill” singer announced his fifth studio album, “–” (Subtract), at the beginning of the month. In a long post on Instagram, he said that the record was inspired by a series of events that “changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art” last year.
The heartbreaking incidents include Cherry’s tumor when she was pregnant with their second child, and Jamal, his best friend, who died.
I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air,
he wrote, adding that this made him want to make a project about what he was going through.
It’s opening the trapdoor into my soul. For the first time, I’m not trying to craft an album people will like, I’m merely putting something out that’s honest and true to where I am in my adult life,
Sheeran’s new album, Subtract, will come out on May 5, and his documentary series, The Sum Of It All, will start on Disney+ on May 3.
