Ellen Pompeo is officially leaving “Grey’s Anatomy.” The show’s star, who has been said to be leaving the long-running series, just said goodbye.
Ellen made the announcement on social media on Thursday, saying that she is “eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support,” she has received for her role as Meredith Grey on the ABC show over the past 19 seasons.
Ellen thanked the fans in her goodbye post and said that they were the ones who made her time on “Grey’s Anatomy” so fun and memorable.
Fans of the show already know that a preview for the midseason premiere of the next season of “Grey’s Anatomy” shows Ellen’s character saying goodbye to her fellow doctors as she moves from Seattle to Boston. There were also rumors that Ellen would only be in 8 episodes of the current 19th season, but she has only been in 7 episodes so far.
Ellen has been on Grey’s Anatomy for a long time and has been in over 400 episodes. Recently, there were rumors that Ellen and her former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Patrick Dempsey might work together on a new show, but Patrick shot those rumors down.
Still, it sounds like Ellen isn’t saying goodbye to “GA” for good. She says,
I’ll definitely be back to visit.
