Tesla founder’s ex-wife Talulah Riley has opened up about marrying Musk twice. Riley was first married to Musk from 2010-2012 and then again from 2013-2016. She stated that all of it made sense at the time and it’s natural for people on the outside to find it strange.
“We Just Got Married Again”: Talulah Riley
In an interview with The Independent, the Scottish Mussel actress opened up about her relationship with Elon Musk and why she married him twice. The couple had first separated in 2012 after their first marriage but got back soon after. The Quickening author stated that while they would go out after their divorce, they would refer to each other as husband and wife which seemed a little weird.
“I suppose the reason to get remarried was just because it felt silly to be together unmarried after having been married. You know, it’s like a habit. We were saying, ‘This is my husband.’ ‘This is my wife.’ ‘Oh, wait, no, we’re not that anymore. We better be that again.’”
“You know, it felt silly to go back to ‘this is my boyfriend’ when we’ve been married. So, we just got married again.”
Talulah Riley has had a fulfilling acting career where she’s been a part of projects like Pride & Prejudice, Westworld, and St. Trinian’s, and has also published two books titled Acts of Love and The Quickening. The 37-year-old actress is currently dating Love Actually star Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Riley went on to say that she and Musk share a “very deep love and connection.”
“He’s a great friend. He looks out for me. We are in a happy place now, where we’re good to each other, which is really nice. I have the utmost love for him.”
Talulah Riley also shared that she took a career break to look after Musk’s five children. Musk and Riley did not share biological kids, however, Riley got along quite well with Musk and his first wife, Justine Wilson’s five kids.
“It wasn’t really a traditional housewife role. I mean, there were the rockets and the cars, and there were things blowing up… there was a lot going on – a lot that was very stimulating.”
“We [she and Musk’s kids] were very involved in what was going on. It was a group effort. A family-wide effort.”
Talulah Riley also praised the Twitter owner for having her involved in everything and not keeping her in his mansion like a trophy wife. She added how she felt lucky for not being one of the trophy wives who spend their time stuck in their rich husband’s mansions.
“Elon was great. He had me alongside for all of that. So it wasn’t like I was stuck in a mansion in Bel Air like a trophy wife, which would not have been fun. I did, of course, witness that for others. But luckily, that was not my fate.”
The Westworld actress was recently seen in the 2022 drama series Pistol alongside her current love interest Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The series is based on a novel titled “Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol” by Steve Jones. The limited series also stars GoT famed actress Maisie Williams, Toby Wallace, Sydney Chandler, Louis Partridge, and Anson Boon, among others. “I really loved playing Vivienne. I’d wanted to work with Danny Boyle forever.”
While speaking about dating Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Talulah Riley said,
“We hadn’t really acknowledged each other as a romantic possibility or potential until the moment that we both did.”
