DC and WarnerBros’ Aquaman was a raging hit as it accumulated $1.148 billion worldwide. They gave the world Jason Momoa as the lead and Amber Heard as Mera. The movie came out in 2018 and then the pandemic hit more than a year later. This pushed back the sequel. However, in the meantime, heard had become a laughing stock in the industry after her highly publicized lawsuit against her ex-husband Johnny Depp. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor won the lawsuit and Heard was left hanging. Hence, more than 4 people signed a petition to remove Heard as Mera from the Aquaman sequel. Well, someone has answered their prayers, even though it is not official, Emilia Clarke is your new Mera.
One fan-made image imagines Emilia Clarke as the character from the DC flick. Clarke is a household name and is best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Moreover, Clarke worked alongside Momoa (Khal Drogo) in the critically acclaimed HBO series as husband and wife. Hence, when the picture made rounds on social media, fans were ecstatic to look forward to the possibility of seeing the two sharing the same screen.
Emilia Clarke replaces Amber Heard in Aquaman in fan-made art
Designer Diego de Sousa used his imagination and skills to morph Emilia Clarke’s face into Mera’s body and replace Amber Heard. Moreover, the results are spectacular as Clarke, as Mera, looks gorgeous. de Sousa’s followers went berserk with the results and immediately started tagging WarnerBros to make the changes. The sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was originally set for a March 2023 release. However, after rumors emerged that Heard’s parts were significantly cut from the movie, the date was pushed back. It is now releasing on Christmas 2023. Check out the images below.
While the pictures seem tempting, it’s not possible at the moment as Emilia Clarke has already signed with Marvel for Secret Wars. The idea is surely appealing to the audience. Many people pointed out that Clarke and Momoa already share wonderful chemistry having to work on Game of Thrones as husband and wife. Moreover, their friendship has only strengthened over the years.
