The audience has been loyal to Grey’s Anatomy since the very beginning. Even after fifteen seasons, the fan list of the show is still growing.
The TGIT Shondaland flagship series aired on ABC every Thursday is about to reach a milestone. Here’s all about the records Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 will break this week.
Is Grey’s Anatomy the longest running medical drama on TV?
Well yes, you heard that one tight. No other TV show of the same genre has survived for so long. And Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 is totally killing it. Episode 332 of the show made it the longest running medical drama. It even left “E.R.” behind which aired between 1994-2009 and had 15 seasons.
Show runner Krista Vernoff shared the news on Twitter and said that she couldn’t be more grateful. Vernoff wrote and produced the show for first four seasons after which she left. However, she returned as a show runner of Grey’s Anatomy in 2017.
Creator Shonda Rhimes didn’t know how to express her joy. She wrote,
I still can't believe that THIS Thursday #GreysAnatomy will become the longest-running primetime medical show. I'm forever grateful for my #GreysAnatomy family. pic.twitter.com/9DGhyHZSxb

Though Rhymes is not the show runner anymore, she congratulated the entire Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 cast and crew for the achievement. She is currently working on a Netflix project based on an article from New York Magazine.
Who will you see in Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 cast?
We have seen several pivotal characters on the show till now. Jesse Williams’ Jackson Avery has been an all time favorite on the show. After Teddy Altman’s return on Grey’s Anatomy Season 15, fans couldn’t be happier.
Grey’s Anatomy cast keeps on changing frequently and it’s hard to predict who will stay. We expect that there are a lot of surprises in store for us.
