Cardi B on Handling Haters: “Everybody is Different”
In the glamorous world of hip-hop and entertainment, Cardi B has often been noted for her direct approach in responding to trolls. Yet, when it comes to managing controversies and public opinion, the “Bongos” rapper admits she admires the strategy employed by none other than Beyoncé.
Beyoncé’s Silent Strength
During a recent candid chat on The Spout podcast, Cardi B lauded Beyoncé’s grace in sidestepping public feuds and drama. “You see how Beyoncé addresses her things? She does not address them at all,” the 30-year-old rapper pointed out.
Delving deeper into the topic, Cardi reflected, “I feel like every artist should do what works for them and what’s good for their mental health.” She went on to highlight that if staying silent works for Beyoncé, especially in preserving her mental well-being, then it’s the right approach for her.
Cardi’s Open Book Policy
Despite her admiration for Queen Bey’s discretion, Cardi B is wired differently when it comes to confronting controversies. Unlike the “Single Ladies” hitmaker, Cardi doesn’t believe in “bottling things inside.” As she puts it, “I’d rather just let it out.” The rapper further emphasized the idea of individuality in handling issues, noting that every artist should navigate their challenges in a way they find most comfortable.
Elaborating on her candid nature, Cardi shared with host Tamra Dhia, “Somebody might call me a name, and I’m gonna call you a harsher name, so people are gonna say that I’m problematic, or I’m mean or always finding negative things and addressing it.”
Public Opinion: A Double-Edged Sword
But for Cardi, public opinion is always a fickle friend. She believes that irrespective of one’s approach – be it confrontational or positive – criticism is an ever-looming shadow. To illustrate this, she brought up Chloe Bailey, known for her consistently positive demeanor. “People still give her a hard time,” Cardi observed.
Closing her insights on the matter, Cardi stated, “People are gonna just always find something to say. Address it how you want to address it. If you want to cuss somebody out today because it’s gonna make you feel better, then do it. If you don’t wanna address these people, and it’s like, ‘You a peasant to me,’ then do that. Whatever makes you feel good.”
With such honest reflections, Cardi B continues to underline the importance of mental health, self-awareness, and individuality in the ever-volatile world of showbiz.
