Christina Applegate is one of the few actresses whose career is as old as she is. Applegate started acting when she was only three months old. She played a baby in an ad for a Playtex baby bottle. In the 1980s, she started to take acting more seriously, and since then, she has made a lot of people happy. Since she has turned 51, we thought it would be fun to take some time to find out some interesting things about her.
Christina Applegate never planned to work in the comedy business.
Even though Applegate is best known for her roles in comedies, the actress never thought she would be successful in that field. She called herself “a dark kid” before she got the part of Kelly Bundy on the TV show “Married… with Children.” This is what she said about herself when she was a teenager. The show encouraged her to use her comedic skills to the fullest and gave her a chance to chill out and have fun.
She has six tattoos.
Every single one of Applegate’s tattoos means something important to her. One is her mother’s name, another is a vein that stands for her best friend, and the third is something she doesn’t want anyone to know. She is not interested in talking about it. But it’s most important for all of them to keep her grounded in reality.
Applegate has survived breast cancer.
In April 2008, when Applegate was 36 years old, she was told she had breast cancer. As the daughter of a woman who beat breast cancer, she made sure to get regular mammograms. This is how doctors were able to catch it early and save her mother’s life. She told her friends and family, like Melissa Etheridge, who also beat breast cancer, about her diagnosis.
While Etheridge was fighting for her own life, she learned something useful that she later told Christina.
This is a blessing that’s happened to you in your life. Right now, you get to start over, and right now you get to change everything — the way that you deal with things in life, the way that you react to things. Fear can hurt you. Stress can hurt you. This is the time that you have this opportunity to change the way you eat…everything you do.
Applegate now thinks that the diagnosis is a blessing because her friend has helped her through it. After a lumpectomy, six weeks of radiation therapy, and a positive BRCA gene test, Applegate decided to have a double mastectomy. She made this choice so she wouldn’t have to have any more surgeries or checkups for the rest of her life.
After having a double mastectomy, she became a mother.
The birth of her daughter helped Applegate’s journey toward healing a lot. She was able to tell her daughter everything, and her daughter helped her live a much happier life as a result. After her cancer diagnosis took over every part of her life for a while, she needed a change of scenery to remember how to be happy again.
Christina Applegate was a founding member of The Pussycat Dolls.
Robin Antin, who was an actor at the time, came up with the idea for The Pussycat Dolls to be a dance group. It was at the start of the 1990s. In 1995, the band made its debut at Johnny Depp’s nightclub, the Viper Room, on the Sunset Strip. But in 2002, she was in charge of the group.
