There is now a legitimate chance that the showrunners create a new season of the show just to please the viewers.
Let us take a closer look at the possibility of a ninth season coming out:
Game of Thrones Season 9: Is It Going to Happen?
As of this writing, production has not started and there seem to be no plans of creating another season of the show. However, fans have been actively voicing their demands that they need a better conclusion to the show. A petition on Change.org with tens of thousands of signatures has demanded the creators of the show to re-shoot Game of Thrones Season 8.
However, it rarely happens that showrunners submit to the demands of the fans and hence the possibility of Game of Thrones Season 9 is highly unlikely. Not all hope is lost though, as there is a chance that the upcoming spinoff series will function as what the ninth season of GoT could have been.
Will there be a GoT Spin-Off Series?
Game of Thrones is not going to get a new season per se, but it is still going to get a spin-off series. This is set to be based thousands of years before the events of the current show and will feature the early settlers of the lands and the story of how the first winter came to be.
This spinoff won’t technically be called Game of Thrones Season 9, but it will still be a show about the series. Here, the children of the forest will be seen creating the Night King and the events before and after that would be in focus.
Some of the earliest of the kings and the arrival of the new Gods will also be in the forefront of things. Casting for the show has already begun.
