Grace Randolph Reviews Barbie
Film critic and YouTuber, Grace Randolph recently shared her review of Barbie after she attended the screening of the movie at the Warner Bros. Studios screening room. She described the movie as the “greatest film” she’s ever seen calling it “super feminist” and “super fun” via her Twitter.
#Barbie was one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen 😍🥹
It is super fun, super feminist and I could watch it on a loop
To see so much of what I think and feel captured in a movie was incredible

While speaking to ABC News In-Depth during the promotional tour, Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig were asked if the movie was feminist. Margot and Greta both agreed that it’s very much a feminist film. Margot continued,
“To me that’s like one slice of the pie. It’s a big slice, but I also wouldn’t call it a funny film because that discredits the fact that it’s got a lot of heart, and it’s got a lot of emotion, and it’s got a lot of movie references, you know, all this kind of stuff.”
She added that while it is a comedy movie there’s so much more that the film has to offer to its audience.
“I’m like it is funny that is a huge part of it. It is a comedy, but if you just call it a funny film it almost make it sound like it doesn’t have a lot going on and it does.”
Greta asserted the film’s feminist approach by adding,
“It’s feminist in a way that includes everyone. It’s a rising tide lifts all boats version of it.”
Margot added to her director’s comment stating that some people associate the term feminism “doesn’t mean men.” She went on to say
“Anyone who believes men and women should be equal is…”
Greta finished her sentence,
“feminist. It’s that simple.”

First Reviews of Barbie Are In
Variety’s Katcy Stephen called Barbie perfection in her review.
“#Barbie is perfection. Greta Gerwig delivers a nuanced commentary on what it means to be a woman in a whimsical, wonderful and laugh-out-loud funny romp. The entire cast shines, especially Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in roles they were clearly born to play.”
Comic Book’s Jamie Jirak asked for an Oscar for Ryan Gosling’s performance.
“I can’t officially quit Twitter before telling you all that #Barbie is currently my favorite film of the year. Greta Gerwig somehow exceeded my expectations. She tackles the positives and negatives of Barbie so beautifully. Give Ryan Gosling an Oscar nomination, I’m dead serious!”
Sharronda Williams’ also applauded Ryan Gosling‘s performance in her review.
“#BarbieTheMovie is witty, heartfelt, and downright fun at times. Ryan Gosling is a scene stealer delivering most of the laughs while Margot Robbie’s heartfelt performance will tug at your heartstrings. While I enjoyed most of the film the screenplay feels bloated at times.”
Collider’s Perri Nemiroff offered a detailed review highlighting everything from production designs to supporting casts.
“I have seen #Barbie! The craftsmanship is incredible. In particular the costume & production design includes next-level work that heavily contributes to creating the feeling that these truly are Barbies, their dream houses, and their worlds come to life. As for the story, that’s where I’m a bit more mixed.
I think the film serves Margot Robbie’s Barbie and her journey especially well, but there are other characters experiencing important arcs that needed more screen time to really dig into and explore to the fullest.”
