It did not matter that David Milch wrote the script or if HBO gave a green signal to it or even the fact the filming of it had begun, HBO’s mythic long-fabled Deadwood film was not going to be real until it hit the silver screen. Well, although there is still no video or footage to prove this yet, there are some images revealed by Entertainment Weekly of the short-lived TV series’ movie revival.
The fans of Deadwood have waited for nearly 12 years to hear some news related to the drama series which was scrubbed just after three seasons in the year 2006. And now, it seems like they have a good news courtesy the revival of the series in the form of a movie which will be featuring the original star cast.
The first photo shows Al Swearengen back as Ian McShane, sitting alongside the Bar of Gem Theater and looking as dapper and calculating as you may be remembering him. In another photo, one can see Timothy Olyphant reprising his role as Seth Bullock and appears to have tuned into a US marshal.
Besides these two main leads, the cast that will return to the movie includes Molly Parker as Alma Ellsworth, John Hawkes as Sol Star, Paula Malcomson as Trixie, Dayton Callie as Charlie Utter, Anna Gunn as Martha Bullock, Robin Weigert playing the role of “Calamity” Jane Canary, Brad Dourif as Doc Cochran, Kim Dickens as Joanie Stubbs, Gerald McRaney as George Hearst and William Sanderson as E.B. Farnum. Oh, and there is also a new entrant in the show, Jade Pettyjohn, who will be playing the role of Destroyer.
An official announcement related to the movie’s release date has not been done, but it is being expected that it may be released in spring 2019.
