An inquest heard that a flight attendant died after she suddenly passed out when the plane landed at a UK airport.
Greta Dyrmishi, who was 24 years old and worked for Air Albania, was on the plane when it crashed at the Stansted airport in December.
A source says that on December 21, Dyrmishi was working on a flight from Tirana, the capital of Albania, to Essex. The medical staff tried to bring her back to life by giving her CPR, but it didn’t work, and she was sadly pronounced dead.
After the building fell down, two ambulances, a vehicle from the hazardous area response team, a vehicle for the ambulance officer, and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance all went to the airport to help.
The 24-year-old woman’s autopsy showed that she died from sudden adult death syndrome, and a coroner said that her death will be looked into in detail.
The Essex coroner, Michelle Brown, said:
This 24-year-old female was cabin crew on a flight from Albania and was on the tarmac when she appeared to faint and was given basic first aid.
Ten minutes later there was no pulse and CPR commenced. Paramedics treated her and confirmed she had passed away. A post-mortem found her cause of death to be sudden adult death syndrome.
Sudden Adult Death Syndrome, also called Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS), is when someone has a sudden cardiac arrest and dies, but the cause can’t be found.
The Cleveland Clinic says that around 4,000 deaths of children and young adults each year are linked to SADS. Each year, around 200,000 Americans die from a sudden heart attack.
Full Fact says that despite rumors on social media that the COVID-19 vaccine raises the risk of cardiac arrest, there is no evidence to support this claim at this time.
After Dyrmishi’s sad death, Air Albania said the following:
On December 21, after disembarking the passengers from our flight to London, one of our cabin crew Greta Dyrmishi had a heart attack.
Even after all medical assistance was provided immediately, we still lost her. She was taken to the hospital in London, and procedures were being followed. From the first moments, Air Albania contacted her family, and we continue to be close to them in these difficult moments.
In respect to Greta and her family, we decided to share the news with the public at the appropriate time. We will always remember Greta as a passionate professional, an excellent co-worker, and a great friend to all of us.
The statement concluded:
May God mercy her and give peace to the family. Air Albania will continue to be with her family.
