After his son fell 50 feet to the earth after falling from a five-story window, Flo Rida has provided an update.
After plunging from a five-story window of his mother’s rental home in a New Jersey apartment complex, six-year-old Zohar Dillard is still receiving intensive care.
According to a lawsuit submitted by mom Alexis Adams, who is now suing the building’s management firm for negligence, he fell onto the hard concrete floor earlier this month (March 4).
The young child sustained internal bleeding, a lacerated liver, fractures in his pelvis and left foot, and other injuries.
On Thursday evening (March 30), his well-known father expressed his gratitude for everyone’s “concerns and thoughts” on Instagram.
“Great day, thank you for everyone who reached out with their concerns and prayers for my son,” the post read.
He then gave fans an update on his son’s health, saying: “He is receiving the best medical care and luckily survived a tragic fall,” the rapper, real name Tramar Lacel Dillard, said.
“I ask for your continued prayers as he undergoes rehabilitation but I would appreciate that this remain a private matter.”
Zohar has hydrocephalus, a neurological disease that results in an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid inside of the brain’s cavities.
“As a single mom to a special-needs child, this feels like a nightmare. My heart is broken into a million pieces,” Adams said in a statement given to News12 New Jersey.
“I am devastated, angry and struggling to come to terms with the fact that my only child has suffered severe injuries due to willful negligence of our landlord and others involved in failing to take necessary safety measures.”
The lawsuit claims that Flo Rida has not provided any financial assistance with the costs of Zohar’s health insurance, which were required by a court-ordered child support arrangement back in 2018. Adams has also accused Flo Rida of failing to pay for Zohar’s medical expenses.
We earlier contacted Flo Rida’s representatives to request a response to these accusations, but they have not yet received one.
A neighbor in the apartment block has since questioned the child’s survival from the terrifying plummet.
The 40-year-old James Lucas told the Daily Mail that he resides on the sixth floor of the apartment block. “I believed he wouldn’t survive because he was lying on the ground and not moving.
“I was just downstairs getting Chinese food and there were ambulance everywhere and I had no idea what had happened I just saw the kid, he looked lifeless.”
He added: “I didn’t even realize it was from the fifth floor until later. You can definitely, if you’re a kid, stand on that sill, but my kids haven’t been here I think they should look into window guards for sure.
Flo Rida Statement
“I couldn’t believe he survived that, I mean the 5th floor, that’s a drop. I was only down there for a few minutes, he was down there when I got there.”
The publication also received a statement from a woman whose daughter lives a few doors away from Adams: “I’m just visiting my daughter but I remember her mentioning it, I didn’t know it was the fifth floor.
I’m shocked that a child could have been able to open these windows if that is what occurred.
“These have screens on them as well. What an awful accident.”
