Mixed-martial artist Francis Ngannou has recently spoken about his upcoming fight with WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. The possibility of a face-off between the Cameroonian-French MMA fighter and the British boxer has been a hot topic for quite some time. Finally, the two will be letting it all out in the ring once and for all later this year.
Francis Ngannou Discusses The Fight With Tyson Fury
It was a surprise for many fans when the news of the fight between Fury And Ngannou broke out. The boxing match will be a 10-round bout match. It will be held on October 28, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While speaking with MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Ngannou revealed that the match announcement felt sudden since the negotiations happened very fast.
“It was quick. The negotiation went on and off less than two weeks.”
Ngannou further added that he wasn’t very excited when he got the call about the fight. He wanted to see how it was going to go.
“It really started one month ago, five weeks ago. And then I received a call from [a representative] in Saudi and he was like, ‘They want to do this fight. Let’s meet in New York.’ At that time, I wasn’t very excited. I was like, OK, let’s find out what’s going on. … We get to New York, we start to meet people, and we start to talk.”
The odds are likely in Fury’s favour since he’s been an undefeated WBC champion since 2020. However, Ngannou holds the world record for the most powerful punch in human history. The boxing match will certainly catch a lot of attention since the talks between the two have been around for quite some time. There has been a lot of build-up leading to the Francis Ngannou vs Tyson Fury fight which will make it an entertaining fight to watch.
Francis Ngannou Warns Tyson Fury
In an interview with TMZ, Francis Ngannou sent a warning to Fury to watch out for his punch. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion is ready to knock out the WBC reigning champion.
“He better just get ready for Oct. 28 because if he’s not taking this seriously, I think he might get surprised and get some regret for his life. I’m coming for all. This is my moment, this is my life, and this is what I’ve been waiting for.”
“The boxing dream I’ve been having since I was a kid, even long time before I discovered MMA, this is it: fighting the boxing champion, the belt might not be on the line, but he is the reigning champion, and this is the dream. So I’m coming for everything.”
Francis Ngannou added that he is excited to prove the haters wrong. He is looking forward to fighting Fury and showing him his knockout power.
“I have some knockout power. It will be crazy if you walk to somebody like Tyson Fury, just counting like, ‘Oh, I have knockout power.’ I’m going there to box. I’m walking into this fight as a boxer, and I’m impressed to see how people are counting me out of this. It also gets me excited. One more thing that they keep doubting on me, and as usual, I might keep proving them wrong.”
