People do many kinds of experiments and they try new stuff. As we have seen experiments on pizza, chips made from the actual pickles, etc.
Now, the French’s also made mustard-flavored ice cream.
Now, even if you’re a fanatic, you have to agree that there are only so many places mustard belongs.
Hot dogs? Absolutely. Hamburgers? Yes, please. Ham sandwich? Indeed. Heck, even a pretzel can benefit from a spicy dash of that bright yellow goodness.
Dessert? Well, that might be a tougher sell.
But that’s not going to stop French’s from trying.
To celebrate National mustard day, the french have collaborated with Coolhaus to create yellow mustard-flavored ice cream.
If you are brave enough to try this odd confection, you’ll have to be in the right place at the right time.
It was only available in new york.
Apparently, early reviews are not unkind to French’s bold creation.

Writing for People, chef Shay Spence said “the initial flavor you experience is not mustard, but sweet hints of cotton candy and bubble gum ice cream. Once you get to bites two or three, though, it really hits you: that unmistakable tang that makes you want a hot dog real bad.”
Other reviewers had a bit of a tougher time with it.
Ruby Anderson at Thrillist said that “To my surprise, the sharpness of the mustard did not insult the sweetness of the cake batter ice cream base…It didn’t taste like a frozen condiment is what I’m saying, but you’ll have to taste it for yourself. I have a feeling this will be polarizing, kind of like licorice.”
So, what do you think? Would you try mustard ice cream?
