Game of Thrones season 8 has already begun its journey towards the end as the first episode aired this Sunday. It is a bittersweet moment for the fans, as the much anticipated last installment arrived after nearly two years. But the cast of GoT is devastated at the end, with actors getting emotional at the last shot.

Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow in the epic fantasy saga, expressed similar sentiments. The actor revealed that in the last moments of Game of Thrones ending, he felt extremely devastated at having to say goodbye to the character. He explained at that moment, he felt like he was being mentally and physically “skinned”.
Game of Thrones’s Jon Snow gets actor emotional
Harrington added,
“My final day of shooting, I felt fine . . . I felt fine . . . I felt fine. . . Then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit. Then they called, ‘Wrap!’ And I just f*g broke down.”
He also said that he wasn’t just sad about saying goodbye to Jon Snow after the season 8 ending.
“It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again. It wasn’t so much about Jon. It was about not being in this world, not getting to smell those smells, fight those fights, be with these people—the whole package.”
The strangest sensation for him, though, when the Jon Snow costume was being taken off of him.
“It felt like being skinned. It felt like they were unceremoniously, for the last time, ripping off this character. I was still blubbering my tears.”
It does not come as a surprise that the actor felt such intense emotions at the end of the show. Game of Thrones season 8 has gained a special place in the hearts of everyone, and it is not shocking that the cast would feel as bad as the fans for the show ending.
Kit further said,
“The costume girls were like, ‘F*g, come on, get it together.’ I’m being very actorly and crying. I remember going, ‘Wait, wait, wait!’ And they wouldn’t. They just ripped. I was like, ‘I need to say goodbye.’ But it was too late. He was gone.”
What’s Jon Snow in for in GoT season 8
The real question that fans have been thinking about for two years now is, whether Jon Snow will make it to the end of Game of Thrones season 8 or not. The last episode saw him being confronted with the truth about his real heritage, and his parentage. The next episode will show how Jon comes to terms with the fact that he is, after all, the true heir to the throne.
Game of Thrones returns with the second episode on April 21.
