Ian Beattie, who played Ser Meryn Trent till season five of Game of Thrones, said that he was pretty annoyed at a coworker for revealing spoilers on the set.
It’s pretty difficult to not encounter Game of Thrones theories and spoilers on the interwebs, so imagine the plight of Mr. Beattie. Of course, it was going to be impossible to dodge them on the sets of the show.
The former Kingsguard was seen this past week at the MCM Comic Con in Birmingham where he revealed his annoyance at the slip.
He said, “The more I fell in love with the show, the less I wanted to read the scripts.”
Ian further added, “At the start of season three, I actually phoned the production office and said, ‘Don’t send me the scripts. Just send me my scenes.’”
Ian revealed that he begged his coworkers to not tell him anything all through the fourth season of Game of Thrones. And he almost made it too.
On the last day of shooting the season 4 of Game of Thrones, the cast was in Belfast and Ian had just finished a scene with Nikolai Coster-Waldau and Jack Gleeson. He was standing outside having a cigarette when Charles Dance walked up to him. and said, “the little bastard finally killed me,” referring to the murder of his character, Tywin Lannister.
The 8-year long fantasy saga is set to end next month with the release of the final season on April 14.
