GoT S8E2 titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” saw everyone hustling to prepare for the big war. As per the battle strategy, all the children and women would hide in the Winterfell crypts. But some Game of Thrones spoiler theories points out that it’s not safe there too. Let’s find out why.
Are the Winterfell Crypts really safe in episode 3?
The Crypts of Winterfell are a mausoleum to the House Stark and several family members were buried there. Will the Night King reanimate the dead Starks to kill those hiding inside the crypts? If this GoT theory turns out to be true, then the ones down in the crypts would require protection first.
Who all are buried in the Crypts of Winterfell?
Built thousands of years ago, the families of the kings of the North, as well as the lords of Winterfell, are buried down there. Generations of Starks have their tombs in the crypt. Traditionally, only the statutes of lords and kings were made for their tombs.
Ned Stark built the statutes of his sister Lyanna Stark and brother Brandon Stark, breaking the tradition. Lord Rickard Stark was also buried in the crypts. We do not know if Ned’s remains made it to the crypt, but we do have his statue. Catelyn and Robb Stark did not make it back to the crypts. Rickon Stark was also buried in the crypts after Ramsay Bolton killed him in the Battle of the Bastards.
