Game of Thrones has several loose ends regarding the places, events, characters, prophecies and the people can’t stop making theories as to how it will. The finale season of GoT will dig up through these loose ends and finally give the fans the much awaited conclusion.
Who will sit on the Iron Throne after Game of Thrones ending?
Of all the spoilers, ideas and theories revolving around GoT ending, one has always been the priority since the beginning: Who will sit on the throne?
We have lots of options in store. Daenerys Targaryen has been after her father’s throne throughout her life. Then, there’s Jon Snow who runs away from the throne, but has been a competent leader throughout. Chosen by the Lord of Light, Jon Snow definitely has a greater purpose.
Some spoiler theories have also sparked about Bran Stark being the Night King. His sister Sansa is also a competent contender. She has faced a lot, yet her heart is filled with empathy. But Cersei is still the crowned ruler of the realm with the entire sellsword army.
Going by the other possibilities, that at the end, there is no throne. The theory has some weight as George R.R. Martin titled only the first book as A Game of Thrones. The entire series is called A Song of Ice and Fire. This indicates that the throne was not meant to define the show’s story.
Why the loose end matters?
The major question is what will happen once the war ends. It’s about the government system that will emerge after it all gets over. What will be left to hold on in the end?
Since the beginning of Game of Thrones, several people have claimed the Iron Throne. These include Robert Baratheon, Daenerys Targaryen, Viserys Targaryen, Stannis Baratheon, Joffrey Baratheon, Renly Baratheon, Cersei Lannister and Tommen Baratheon. Apart from these, we have Robb Stark, Mance Rayder, Balon Greyjoy, Yara Greyjoy, Euron Greyjoya and Jon Snow.
Even the White Walkers’ leader is called the Night King. Well, the show has certainly lived upto its name. But we have several hints that it is not just about the throne. In the second season of GoT, Daenerys saw several visions including the destroyed throne room which was covered in snow at the House of the Undying in Qarth. Whether the snow represents Jon Snow or the Night King, we will get to know soon.
Daenerys has talked about breaking the wheel several times, but she never discussed how that will happen. She is far busy on her ascension to power to think about it. Till now, only the Night’s Watch is the truest example of a democracy. We saw this when Jon Snow was chosen as the Lord Commander.
