What was the Game of Thrones season 8 bonus episode about?
HBO created this Game of Thrones season 8 bonus episode to show the actors’ journey throughout the show and finally saying goodbye. The Last watch reveals the ups and downs that went into the making of this epic show. But, this isn’t a simple documentary which shows how the series was created. Instead, this is a happy and heartbreaking plot showing the bittersweet moments of the great show that they had created. And what is the meaning of saying goodbye to such a long journey.
Behind the scenes photos of cast and crew
Let’s take a look at the pictures from the Game of Thrones season 8 bonus episode.
Here, we can see David Nutter (director) reviewing the GOT S8 script on location.
Here we have Chris Newman, who is the executive director of the show. We can see him in Croatia, which served as the location for King’s Landing. But, the capital of Westeros was recreated only for the eighth season.
Here again, we have Newman with Bernadette Caulfield, who is the co-executive producer of the show. They seem to be reviewing through the scripts of the show.
Here we have Del Reid, who is the special effects supervisor, at work. He is preparing the scenes for the battle of Winterfell. Behind, you can see the trenches which would be later fired up.
You can see Vladimir Furdik who plays the role of the Night King. He also served as a stuntman on the show.
And here Furdik is in the Night King’s costume (Quite the difference).
Pamela Synth is the makeup supervisor for the crowd. Here you can see her preparing a fighter for a scene.
Here you can see hair designer, Kevin Alexander sharing a laugh with the hair supervisor, Candice Banks.
Banks can be seen in an emotional moment, probably during the last scene of the series.
You can see Deborah Riley here, who is the production designer. Riley has created one of the best sets of the show including recreating King’s Landing for the fifth episode.
Here you can see David Nutter’s assistant, Patrick Strapazon. If you zoom in, you can notice that the rack kept behind him says ‘Game of Thrones stationary.’ (Now that’s a dream for every stationary addict).
Behind the scenes from the sets
The Game of Thrones season 8 bonus episode also shows the cast reacting to the last reading season. There were some emotional moments. Specially when Kit Harrington learns that Jon Snow kills Daenerys Targaryen and tears up. You can watch the trailer here.
