Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2 just featured the second steamy scene of the show and it was the first for one of our favorite characters. It was a moment of surprise for many fans out there when we finally got see Arya share the bed with someone. And by someone, we mean Gendry.

Gendry and Arya history
Arya and Gendry had become fast friends back in Game of Thrones season 2 in King’s Landing. Soon after, the Red Lady, Melisandre had captured Gendry and taken him to offer his blood to the Lord of the Light. They have been separated since.

But, they recently reunited. And there have been sparks of small flirty moments between them in Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2. She has been giving him those looks (and you know). In Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2, she finally gets him alone in a room. She asks him about the Red Lady and what she did to him. Gendry reveals that he is actually Robert Baratheon’s bastard.
Arya shows a little bit of insecurity when she asks him about the number of women that Gendry has been with. There are only a few hours left before the army of the dead arrives. And Arya tells Gendry that they are probably going to die soon. She says, “I want to know what it feels like before it happens.” They start kissing and strip off their clothes.
This was a big moment for all of us because Arya Stark just became a woman! We have seen her as a kid, as a warrior, as a killer and everything. But, this was the first time we saw her in a new light. So, let’s see what the fans reactions were after Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2.
Fan reactions to the scene
A lot of fans could not handle the scene well, considering the age gap between the two. Arya is supposed to be 18 years in the eighth season. (Maisie Williams is actually 22 years old). She looks considerably younger than Gendry, who is played by Joe Dempsie (31). But, in the book series, she is just 5 years younger than Gendry.

But, there was a lot of disappointment within the fans too. She has been portrayed as one of the most badass and independent characters of the show. Getting her involved in a romantic and steamy sex scene definitely felt out of character for them.
What did Maisie Williams have to say about this?
Maisie Williams had told Entertainment Weekly that she had not considered the sex scene seriously. She knew that the show runners had a reputation of pulling pranks on others by giving them fake scripts. But, she said, “It was a human relationship for Arya and that made it interesting.”
