Game of Thrones Season 8 has undoubtedly taken the internet by storm. The final season is almost here and everyone is excited about how the journey will end. HBO still hasn’t revealed any trailer but a few new posters have been released. These posters show the few remaining characters who can claim the Iron Throne.
What posters have been released for Game of Thrones Season 8?
A few days back, HBO uploaded a series of tweets which contained posters of various characters sitting on the Iron Throne. And they had a few claims of their own as well.

Of course, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are THE main contenders for the throne. There is a Game of Thrones season 8 theory that the Night King might kill everybody and take the throne for himself. But, Samwell Tarly’s appearance feels a bit icky, no?

However, it was back in November 2018 when HBO had confirmed the release of the final season. It released a teaser which affirmed that Game of thrones season 8 will release in April 2019. The video shows a compilation of various scenes from the previous seven seasons.

In an interview with Metro, Maisie Williams had said, “We finish our shoot in December and the first episode will be aired in April (2019).” She explained that the episodes that are shot, are huge. A lot goes into the edit and that is why we can’t rush into it.
Six Movies, One Season
HBO CEO Richard Pepler revealed that Game of Thrones season 8 is a spectacle! This means he has watched all the episodes. He said, “I felt like I was watching a movie.” He also said that the showrunners knew that the bar wad set high and they have exceeded it.
“I have watched them without the CGI effects and I’m stunned. The fans are in for some amazing storytelling and maginificent production”, he said.
First footage of Game of Thrones Season 8
As a new year gift, HBO released a teaser video for all the upcoming shows in 2019. In that video, we saw some of the first footage from Game of Thrones season 8. The ten-second clip begins with the arrival of a dragon and then moves onto Daenerys coming into Winterfell. Jon Snow is with her and Sansa Stark welcomes her by saying, “Winterfell is yours, Your Grace.” It is featured somewhere around 0:39 clip.
Fire and Ice
The final conflict in Game of Thrones Season 8 will be Fire vs Ice (No surprise). In fact, HBO had posted a short teaser for the eight season which showed fire and ice slam into each other on a model of Westeros.
A premiere tease
In November 2018, Entertainment Weekly (EW) published a huge preview of Game of Thrones Season 8. It was quite meagre on the details but nevertheless, offered a few insights on the first episode. According to EW, “Season 8 begins in Winterfell which shows many references to the first episode of the show.” It also show Daenerys and her army procession approaching. Then there are many reunions and confrontations of characters. A lot of drama and the final battle preparation with the White Walkers.
The Game of Thrones season 8 preview also adds that Sansa Stark is not very glad that Jon Snow bent the knee to Dany. The final battle scene is going to be a massive action sequence for television.
A Lasting Flavour
Recently, Emilia Clarke spoke to Vanity Fair and said that she had finished shooting the final scene in Daenerys’ story. (Does this mean that she dies?) She also said that it was very weird for her. She confessed that she was heartbroken when she had to say goodbye to the character.
Making over a Knight
Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) surely took a long time to see the true colors of Cersei Lannister. But in Game of Thrones season 7, he finally took a step and left her to join the battle against the White Walkers. This is a big change since he has always been faithful to Cersei (Lena Headey). Waldau told the Short List that this change in the character is shown by the new haircut of Jaime.
Will there be multiple endings to Game of Thrones season 8?
Casey Bloys, President of Programming in HBO said back in 2017 that they would shoot multiple endings for the final season. In this way, even the characters would not know the real ending until it was released. However, Maisie Williams might prove an antithesis to this claim. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, she said, “When I heard this I thought ‘I don’t think we have enough budget to film multiple endings,” In fact, she also said that sometimes presidents don’t tell the truth.
Nevertheless, it is a long shot to believe any one of them. The cast and crew of Game of Thrones will definitely maintain top secrecy.
Is there a spin-off to Game of Thrones?
It is good news for the Game of Thrones fans out there. Season 8 won’t be the final ending after all. Multiple spin-offs are already being shot by HBO. Although, nothing official has been confirmed as of now.
