Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 spoilers and theories
The battle ended with Arya plunging a knife in the heart of the Night King. He reached the Godswood, only to find Bran Stark being defended by a lone man, Theon Greyjoy. After mercilessly slaughtering the Iron Born, he took a step forward to kill Bran.
But before he could do that, Arya jumped out of nowhere. Although the Night King caught her, she did manage to kill him by a move she showed us in the 7th season in a spar against Brienne of Tarth. The leader of the dead shattered to a hundred pieces, and so did his army with him, ending the battle forever.
Reddit theory says Night King is not dead
But a theory has been floating on Reddit which suggests that this may not be the end after all. A GOT fan, ColdBeing, wrote,
“They hyped up The Night King for seasons upon seasons, years upon years and this is how he goes out? There’s just no way. This plot is so stupid. I think there’s more going on then what meets the eye.
“Why else was Bran warged for so long? Could it be going back in time to prevent all this bloodshed? Could he have been making a deal with The Night King?
“When The Night King walked up to Bran, he looked like he accepted his fate. I just feel like The Night King is Bran, The Night King was going to kill Bran to destroy himself.
“I mean the way The Night King just looked at Bran, it felt like he had to do it when he didn’t want to. Arya ruined the plans for Bran.
“After all this and then they’re already going to battle with Cersei? Something just doesn’t feel right.”
We will have to wait to see if this Game of Thrones theory holds any water. Is Bran really the Night King, or can he control the White Walkers in some way?
