The fans had to say goodbye to two valuable souls in Episode 4 of Season 8. The unexpected death of Rhaegal followed by Missandei was something that the fans weren’t prepared for. Viewers were aware that Daenerys will now face Cersei and certainly, there would be a lot of bloodsheds. But these two deaths left the fans in shock. The way it happened was totally brutal.
Well, Game of Thrones season 8 is known for killing main characters without any mercy. Cersei first got Rhaegal killed and then managed to capture Dany’s loyal advisor Missandei.
This was all to provoke Dany charging in before the time was right. What will the Dragon Queen do now? After losing one dragon to the Night King and then getting the other one killed off so mercilessly, Dany is really furious and wounded.
What does “Dracarys” mean?
The mother of three dragons is only left with one dragon and a few supporters. Coming back to Misandei, Cersei at least gave her the opportunity to say a few last words before executing her. All Missandei chose to say was “Dracarys”. Many fans are still figuring out its significance.
For those who are not aware, “Dracarys” is a Valyrian word for Dragonfire. We have heard Dany use this out many times during the show. The word holds a greater significance for Missandei and stands for freedom. It was first used when she was finally freed from slavery.
Dany tried to settle things with Cersei, but she doesn’t seem to be in a mood for it. Considering all the power she has now, Cersei would go head-on with her plan to stay on the Iron Throne.
