A young Polish woman who made headlines around the world when she said she was missing British toddler Madeleine McCann said she’s “happy she’s getting the truth.”
Julia Wandelt, who is 21 years old, first went viral on Instagram when she posted pictures of herself next to pictures of Madeleine, who went missing in 2007 while on vacation with her parents in Portugal.
Since then, the young woman has caught the attention of the media around the world. She recently had a DNA test to find out if she is not another missing girl.
Online detectives think that Julia might be Livia Schepp, a six-year-old Swiss girl who went missing in 2011 with her twin sister Alessia.
Wandelt did an Instagram Live with self-proclaimed medium and private investigator Dr. Fia Johansson earlier this month. Dr. Fia Johansson has been speaking for Wandelt and is also a medium. During the live video, Julia said that her mother had been asking doctors to lie about Julia’s health history.
She was said to have told the doctor that she wanted her daughter to be admitted to the hospital.
My daughter is in danger and I need to stop her, that’s what I want you to tell me and I want you to help give me the wrong and false statement. Then I can ask the police to somehow help me, not arrest directly, but to actually hospitalize my daughter.
Around the time of the live stream, Julia deleted her social media accounts after the Polish police said that she was not Madeleine.
After what are said to be death threats, Julia and Dr. Johansson are now in California. The medium, who has helped US police find missing people before, put pictures of Julia on her own Instagram story. One of the pictures showed the young woman getting into a car.
Julia enjoying the sunlight. I’m so happy for this beautiful angel that finally found some peace,
she wrote, adding:
Past seven days, she has been so anxious, so worried, and so lonely. At this moment, she is happy she is not alone, and she is getting the truth.
The doctor has said before that her “number one priority” with Julia is to keep her safe because she “has nobody” in Poland, including her family, who released a statement disputing her claims.
Julia has never said, ‘I am Madeleine McCann’. She has lots of questions about her past and she asked for help. We are open to all possibilities,
she said.
Having spent time with Julia and investigating this I do not think she is lying or making things up for followers, everything she says appears to be real.
