People all over the internet have different reactions to the actions of a single mother who started a GoFundMe campaign asking for donations to help her build her “dream home.”
The process of buying a home can take a long time and cost a lot of money. One of the biggest problems is having to make a big down payment in order to get a mortgage. Because of this, most of us have to put in a lot of time and work to save up enough money before we can buy our first house.
Kara-Louise Hoppo, the mother of four young boys, caused a stir when she asked for $40,000 in donations on the Facebook page “Darwin Buy Swap Sell.” Her plan was to find a new place for her family to live.
The message was taken down after people had different reactions to it. It seemed like the other members of the group didn’t care much about Hoppo’s request.
A source reported that the following is an excerpt from the original post:
We are in a bit of a housing predicament and I’m manifesting that we’re going to get out of those permanently this year. I’ve found a way, but I can’t do it without help.
After that, Hoppo posted a link to a GoFundMe page where people could find more information about how the donations would be used.
The single mother wrote a long post about her life on the internet. In it, she went into detail about the following things:
We are needing to move from the home that we are currently in mainly due to health and safety reasons, in a rental market that is skyrocketing and we cannot really afford.
The so-called “hippie family” would use the money to buy two mobile homes, which they would then put on a friend’s land. This would save them money on rent, and they could pay back their friend for letting them use his land by helping him with his projects.
Hoppo said that she doesn’t have a job right now but that she is “currently studying” to become a fully qualified energy healer and be able to support herself financially by the end of this year.

I am asking for $40,000 total in donations. Or for min. 4000 kind hearted people to be willing to donate $100 worth of their yearly bought coffee budget,
Hoppo wrote.
She said that the seller of the demountable homes is willing to negotiate on the price and is also willing to wait a month to see if the single mother can save up enough money to buy them.
Hoppo says that the donations would “change” her family’s life and gives a list of other expenses, such as the cost of buying furniture and hiring an electrician.
After the article was published by the local newspaper, The Mango Inquirer, and shared on Facebook, it’s safe to say that readers didn’t like what they read.
Wow, if only everyone could be funded to get their dream,
one person wrote, with a second adding:
So… you want us to pay for your house… right.
As of the time this article was written, 80 people have given money to the caring mother’s GoFundMe page, bringing the total amount raised to $4,300. It’s clear that a lot of people think she can reach her goal.
After giving twenty dollars to the cause, one person posted the following message on the page:
I really hope you can get yourself a house. I wish everybody everywhere could be happy and get the things they need. The world can be dark – I want to be a bright spot despite that. I really hope you get your dream house and dream life!!!
A second added:
Just a small donation but every little bit helps and I truly hope you can make your dreams come true. I read that there were negative comments but all I see is a mum trying to do the best for her kids.
In a world where people fork out hundreds of dollars just to catch a glimpse of an ‘influencer’ and spend money on meaningless things wouldn’t it be nice if people were just kind and helped others.
