Golda Rosheuvel is an actress known for her work in both television and film, most notably for portraying Queen Charlotte on the popular Netflix series Bridgerton. She then starred in the 2023 miniseries, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Additionally, she has also made appearances in Silent Witness and Dead Boss.
Early Life
Golda Rosheuvel was born in Guyana to an Anglican priest, Siegfried Rosheuvel, who was from Guyana, and a mother from England, Judith Evans. Her father’s missionary work led to her moving frequently around Guyana and staying with various indigenous tribes.
At the age of five, her family relocated to England to live with her uncle and eventually made Hertfordshire their permanent home. She also has a brother. During her adolescence, Rosheuvel dedicated herself to athletics with the goal of becoming a professional athlete.
She specialized in the 100m sprint, javelin, and long jump. However, when she experienced an ankle injury, she shifted her attention to theater. After completing a diploma in performance at East Herts College, she continued her studies in musical theatre at the London Studio Centre.
Golda Rosheuvel’s Career
During her time in college, Golda Rosheuvel’s first experience in professional theatre was playing the role of Donna in Hair during a nine-month tour in Europe. She has also performed in various other productions such as Porgy and Bess, Macbeth, The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet, Angels in America, Bad Girls: The Musical, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
In 2018, Rosheuvel portrayed a lesbian iteration of Othello in the play Othello. Her first appearance on television was in 2001 when she starred in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar that was broadcast as part of Great Performances.
She went on to make guest appearances on various television shows including Casualty, The Bill, Torchwood, Luther, Coronation Street, and Silent Witness. She also had a minor role in the 2016 historical film Lady Macbeth.
Golda Rosheuvel was chosen to play the role of Queen Charlotte in the Netflix historical show Bridgerton, created by Shonda Rhimes, in 2019. The series debuted on December 25, 2020, and received favorable feedback from reviewers.

Golda Rosheuvel is married to Shireen Mula. According to her website, Shireen Mula is a playwright and theatre-maker. They first met at a friend’s party and have been in a relationship for more than ten years. Shireen has worked in various locations around the world, including London.
Although they maintain a level of privacy in their relationship, Golda frequently expresses admiration for Mula in interviews. In an Okay, Now Listen podcast episode, she said,
“I’m in love, at the moment. Deeply. And to admit that is freeing, you know?”
