The Golden Globes nominees were announced on Thursday. As per the announcement, the nominees are Alfonso Cuaron (Roma), Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Adam McKay (Vice), Peter Farrelly (Green Brook) and Spike Lee (Black Klansman). This came after Natalie Portman announced that the 2017’s Globes nominations will not have female directors.
Before making the announcement of the list, Portman said,
And now, here are the all male nominees.
As per the prognosticators, a lot of women directors could have been nominated including Marielle Heller (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Karyn Kusama (Destroyer), Josie Rourke (Mary Queen of Scots), Elizabeth Chomko (What They Had), Debra Granik (Leave No Trace), Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here) and Tamara Jenkins (Private Life).
Till now only five women have been nominated for the Golden Globes award for best director and only one of them have won it. Barbra Streisand was the one who won the award for ‘Yentl’.
