Gordon Ramsay is best for having really high food standards and a rude way of talking. Even though a lot of his TV persona is probably exaggerated, he runs his family with the same brutal honesty that he brings to aspiring chefs and failing businesses.
He’s given his kids a hard upbringing and a “can-do” attitude because that’s how he was raised. Because of this, he and his wife, Tana, have decided that the Ramsay kids won’t get their money. Ramsay and his wife say that their good educations, nice places to live, good business connections, and the fact that they are named Ramsay have helped them get ahead, but that’s about it.
Gordon Ramsay makes his kids sit in Coach
Gordon Ramsay is worth about $190 million, so he can take his family on more than a few nice trips. When he can, he’s happy to bring the kids along, but he doesn’t like where they sit on an airplane. According to Travel and Leisure, when the family flies, all of the kids sit in coach while mom and dad go behind the curtain to first class.
Gordon Ramsay told the publication,
They don’t sit with us in first class. They haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that. At that age, at that size, you’re telling me they need to sit in first class? No, they do not. We’re really strict on that.
The father of five has paid for their vacations and plane tickets, but that’s as far as he’s willing to go.
Ramsay and his wife of 22 years do more than just book cheap flights to keep their kids on the ground. Gordon Ramsay’s four older children are all expected to live on a set amount of money. The Ramsay family’s oldest daughter gets $100 a week for college, while the other three get around $50 a week. With their money, they have to pay for the bus, their cell phones, and any other related things they want. The Ramsay family’s newest member doesn’t need an allowance yet.
Gordon Ramsay doesn’t necessarily want his kids to go into the restaurant business.
Gordon Ramsay made his name and his money as a top chef, but he doesn’t necessarily want his kids to follow in his footsteps. Matilda is the second-youngest of the Ramsay children. She seems to be following her father’s footsteps, but it’s not because of him.
Ramsey says he doesn’t want his kids to be known as the “Ramsay kid” for the rest of their lives. He would like for them to find their own way and do well on their own. As things stand, three of his five kids aren’t going to be the next great chefs. Meghan, the oldest, is studying psychology, while Jack wants to be in the military. The Telegraph says that Holly, who is Jack’s twin, is putting all of her passion into the fashion world.
Why won’t the Ramsay kids be inheriting the family fortune?
Everyone knows that Ramsay had to make his own way. The well-known chef had a hard childhood and had to work hard to get where he is now. He wants his children to do the same, and Ramsay thinks that giving them money they didn’t work for will make them lazy.
The chef and TV personality told the Telegraph that in his will, his children would not get a lot of money. What they will get is a deposit for an apartment worth 25% of the rent. After that, though, it seems like they are on their own. In the interview, he said that he’s not mean. In fact, Ramsay’s feelings about the money his kids will get are all about love. Ramsay and Tana seem to want their kids to grow up to be independent adults who leave their mark on the world. One way to do this is to make sure they made their own money.
