Greg received his education at the all-male Junípero Serra High School, a Roman Catholic institution. In 1987, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in English.
Career
After his graduation, Gutfeld interned with the conservative publication “The American Spectator” before securing a position as a staff writer at “Prevention.” He then relocated to Emmaus, Pennsylvania, and served as an editor for various Rodale Press magazines.
Gutfeld’s contributions to “Men’s Health” began in 1995 and he eventually rose to the role of editor-in-chief in 1999, although he was replaced the following year.
Later, Gutfeld assumed the role of editor-in-chief at “Stuff” magazine, resulting in a rise in readership from 750,000 to 1.2 million. Yet, following a controversial prank in 2003 involving dwarves causing a disturbance at the Magazine Publishers of America conference, Greg was terminated from his position.
Following his departure from “Stuff,” Gutfeld joined Dennis Publishing as their head of “brain development” and was also the editor for “Maxim U.K.” from 2004 to 2006. However, his contract was not extended due to a decline in readership during that time.
From 2005 to 2008, Greg wrote for “The Huffington Post” and used sarcasm in his articles to target his coworkers, including Deepak Chopra and Arianna Huffington.
In 2007, Greg Gutfeld took on the role of host for the late-night Fox News program “Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld.” Four years later, he joined the panel of another Fox News show, “The Five,” as a co-host.
In February 2015, Greg left “Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld” and in the following months, he began hosting his own show, “The Greg Gutfeld Show,” also on Fox News.
In 1997, Gutfeld’s first book, “The Scorecard: The Official Point System for Keeping Score in the Relationship Game,” was released.
He then went on to publish several other books:
- The Scorecard at Work: The Official Point System for Keeping Score on the Job (1999)
