Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups franchise has entertained the masses with its wit and comic timing. The first instalment of the franchise came out over a decade ago in 2010. While it wasn’t appreciated by film critics, it sure was a commercial success. Owing to its massive success at the box office the movie came out with a sequel in 2013 which was again a big hit. But it’s been 10 years since the last movie and fans have been wondering if we’ll see part 3 of this entertainment flick.
Will We See Grown Ups 3?
There haven’t been any official announcements regarding any future Grown Ups projects so far. However, fans have been demanding the threequel for a while now. The movie features a funny bunch of people which include Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, Salma Hayek, Marie Bello, and Joyce Van Patten.
However, there seem to have been discussions about the third instalment. While speaking with Flickering Myth, actress Maria Bello spilt some beans about the possibility of Grown Ups 3. Bello played the role of Kevin James’ wife, Sally Lamonsoff, in the first two parts of the film.
“People have talked about it and we’ve heard it might happen. But I don’t know if there is a script, I don’t know what there is. But I hope so because, boy, it’s fun to work with those guys.”
From the success of the first two films, the idea of a third part doesn’t seem too far-fetched. Grown Ups (2010) made a box office collection of $271.4 million against a budget of $80 million. It became Adam Sandler‘s highest-grossing film. Three years later, when Sandler reunited with the cast to come out with the sequel, Grown Ups 2 (2013), which also broke the box office with a collection of $247 million against a budget of $80 million. Whether we’ll get to see the family comedy back in action with the whole cast is a question that remains unanswered.
Sandler is known for producing comedy movies which often involve his close friends. He has also been an executive producer for the Hotel Transylvania series which also stars David Spade, Steve Buscemi, and Andy Samberg.
Grown Ups 3 Script Leaked on Twitter?
Twitterati went berserk over a Grown Ups 3 script which went viral in January 2020. American comedian, Tom Scharpling, seems to be a fan of the movie franchise and wrote an unofficial script for the threequel. His tweet caught the attention of the movie fandom and several others who seemed to enjoy the plot and storyline.
In April 2019 I wrote a script for GROWN UPS 3.
I was not asked to write it.
It is the best thing I will ever do in my life, professional or otherwise.
And here it is, my first gift to everyone in 2020.https://t.co/eRg3crXXFT

His script got a lot of attention and was received by Twitter users. A lot of them expressed their appreciation and showered praises for his writing. Even former WWE Heavyweight Champion, Dolph Ziggler couldn’t resist reading it. He commented, “This was fantastic.” Here’s a look at some of the reactions the comedian received to his scriptwriting-
“I wasn’t expecting this. This script is so good it would be a crime if it doesn’t get made for real. You hear me, @netflix? @PrimeVideo ?”
@cjmonchfred

@TheRealTavie

@JVeesus
It does seem like a matter of time until Sandler or the producers decide to take one last ride down memory lane and give fans what they want. Watching the whole cast reunite after almost a decade since the last film will surely be a treat for fans who’ve grown up watching the films. Although, we will not see Cameron Joyce, who played Sandler’s son- Keithie Feder making a return since he passed away in 2019. Another cast member who fans will miss in the third part will be Geezer played by comedian Norm Macdonald, who passed away in 2021.
