GTA 6, the gen-next game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, is one of the most anticipated games of recent times! Given that GTA 5 was a thundering success back when it released in 2013, Grand Theft Auto 6 is all set to take things to the next level!
However, rumours of Sony planning on acquiring Take-Two Interactive has caused worry among Xbox Grand Theft Auto players. Take-Two Interactive, for those who may not be aware, is the parent company of Rockstar Studios – the developers of GTA. Let us take a closer look:
GTA 6: Will Sony Acquire Take-Two Interactive?
As of this writing, there has been no official indicator from either of the parties about an acquisition deal. Moreover, given that Take-Two is one of the most profitable names in gaming right now, it is unlikely to accept a deal from Sony. Take-Two is the name behind not just Grand Theft Auto, but also the Red Dead Redemption series!
With titles such as GTA 6 coming out in the future, it is unlikely that Take-Two decides to give a majority stake away to Sony!
If Sony Acquires Take-Two, Will Grand Theft Auto 6 Become a PlayStation Exclusive?
Making GTA 6 a PlayStation-exclusive would not be a good business decision, even if Sony decides to do that. Given that the more number of consoles it is playable on, the higher would the game’s sales be – Sony won’t make it an exclusive for the PlayStation.
However, the shadow of exclusivity may still loom over other games created by Take-Two, IF such an acquisition ever happens.
